5 Considerations When Hiring a Skip Bin
Posted on: 30 June 2016
Whether you are installing a pool or renovating your home here are 5 considerations to make when hiring a skip bin to ensure you use the right company to remove your rubbish.
1. Reputation
A good company will always have a loyal customer base and lots of experience. Ask around to see whether anyone has hired a skip bin from them before and ask for an honest account of the company. How did they conduct themselves and were they cost effective?
Don't necessarily go for the cheapest company as you may find that they provide a poorer level of service. A respectable skip bin hire company will be able to answer all of your questions regarding waste disposal regardless of cost.
2. What Waste?
Always consider what type of waste you will be disposing of. Different types of waste require different methods of disposal and different types of skip bin. Heavier loads such as concrete and brick will require a more robust truck, whereas hazardous materials will require a different approach altogether. A good company will advise you on the most appropriate solution and will ensure that everything is removed safely and legally.
3. How Much?
You must always think of the quantity of rubbish you will be disposing of. This will obviously impact the number of skip bins you will require and the size of the skip bin. They often range in size from the smaller 2m3 up to the larger 10m3. Asking for some advice from the skip bin company is a good way to visualise how much will fit into the bin, or better still ask to see them.
4. Bin Location
Bin location is really something you want to consider, if only to make your life easier. Placing the skip bin nearer to an access point to your home will make it easier for the bin to be removed, however you need to ensure it doesn't block any access that neighbours may be using to get to their own homes. On the other hand, placing the skip near to the site will make it quicker and less tiring for you to dispose of any waste.
5. Time Is Everything
You don't ever want a skip to be lying around longer than it needs to so try estimating how long the job will take and try to complete it as quickly as possible. Having the skip exposed over long periods increases the chance of debris blowing out during poor weather, but can also lead to piles of rotting vegetation if clearing out garden waste.
